From the occupation of this twin residence by different members of the Dufresne family, through the college students of les Pères de Sainte-Croix, the Château housed the first National Museum of Contemporary Art in Quebec and a first Museum of Decorative Arts, before itself becoming the museum and heritage establishment that we know today. The successive vocations of Château Dufresne are now part of the introductory tour of the place.
