This exhibition highlights the fascinating story of a unique urban development project in Viauville, the eastern district of the former city of Maisonneuve, now Montreal, at the turn of the 20th century.
After accumulating considerable capital, Charles-Théodore Viau, visionary industrialist and founder in 1867 of the famous Biscuiterie Viau & frère, invested in land ownership and imagined the creation of a model residential town, Viauville, along the river.
The exhibition explores Viau’s innovative urban planning strategies and principles, which continue to shape the built heritage of this part of town to this day.
Viauville, c’est l’avenir!
