SIXTY’S STYLE!
Our creative workshops | SUMMER 2025 In connection with the exhibition “Sixty years ago, the MAC at Château Dufresne 1965-1968”

The Imaginary of Abstraction

From 1965 to 1968, pioneers of abstraction exhibited at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, then housed in the Château Dufresne. Their works bear witness to the birth of this artistic movement in Quebec. In the studio, young people will draw inspiration from Quebec artists belonging to this important artistic movement to create their own abstract drawings, giving free rein to their imagination and creativity. Saturdays, July 12 and August 9, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays, July 13 and August 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Little Sculpture Symposium

During the summer of 1965, the first Quebec Symposium was held under the theme of “cut and welded metal.” Several sculptors worked on it in the gardens of Château Dufresne. Other materials were used in subsequent symposiums. In the workshop, the young people created a small sculpture symposium using different materials. Saturdays, July 19 and August 16, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays, July 20 and August 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Make a good impression

Several artists from the younger generation of the 1960s gravitated toward the Atelier libre de recherche graphique. There, they experimented with new possibilities for image creation, hoping to make the art of engraving accessible. In the workshop, young people will discover the principles of creating and printing an engraving. Saturday, August 2nd from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, August 3rd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
